The Helmholtz Pioneer Campus
The Helmholtz Pioneer Campus is an innovation campus with a startup culture at the Helmholtz Zentrum München. HPC stands for the intelligent fusion of biomedical sciences, engineering and digitization. Teams of top scientific talents from all over the world work together on the development of novel solutions that make a difference in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. HPC aspires the values of Hermann von Helmholtz (1821- 1894), a physician and physicist, polymath and science pioneer.

The Munich region - a highly innovative and thriving research environment
- 2 excellent universities, the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich and the Technical University of Munich and their respective hospitals
- influential Max Planck Institutes and the headquarter of the Max Planck Society
- Fraunhofer Institutes and headquarter of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft
- internationally operating pharmaceutical and tech companies, SMEs, and a vivid start up scene
- a variety of biotech incubators, and innovation/translational centers as catalysts for start ups

The Helmholtz Zentrum München
As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle. The Helmholtz Zentrum München has about 2,500 staff (as of Dec 2018) and is headquartered in Neuherberg in the north of Munich. Helmholtz Zentrum München is a member of the Helmholtz Association, a community of 19 scientific-technical and medical-biological research centers with a total of about 39,255 staff members.
