This prestigious appointment underscores the significant contributions of the Pioneer Campus and Computational Health Center communities and highlights Paolo's leadership in integrating human genetics with advanced computational technologies.
Earlier this year, CZI established a new AI Advisory Group and inaugurated the AI Residency Program, aimed at employing advanced AI and machine learning technologies to construct predictive models of cellular biology in health and disease contexts. CZI’s work in AI seeks to push the boundaries of scientific understanding and research capabilities.
Within the AI Residency Program, Paolo will lead the integration of genetic variation data in virtual cell models. This effort leverages a unique interdisciplinary approach at the convergence of human genetics, artificial intelligence, and single-cell -omics, marking a significant stride toward unraveling the molecular mechanisms that underpin human health and disease.
"I am deeply honored to join the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative’s AI Residency Program," says Paolo Casale. “Modelling genetic variation is crucial as it offers insights into causal mechanisms that may underpin human health. This approach holds the potential to significantly enrich our understanding of molecular biology and pave the way for groundbreaking advancements in biomedical research and therapeutic development.”
About the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative:
